I usually peruse the Monoprice website when looking for cables - HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, etc. - but occasionally I come across attractive sales on PC peripherals and monitors. Such is the case today, when I found a 34-inch curved ultrawide gaming monitor on sale for $389.99.
This is $110 less than list price, which is generally a bargain for this class of display. I have not experienced this monitor in person (with my own eyes?). Although we did not experience it, it is encouraging to see a Samsung panel (LSM340YP05) listed on the spec sheet. It is a VA screen with quantum dot technology.
At 34 inches, this is a large display; it fills the screen with a 3440 x 1440 resolution (21:9 aspect ratio). This model also offers a relatively fast 144 refresh rate, along with FreeSync support (when paired with a Radeon GPU) to prevent screen tearing.
The spec sheet also states that it is DisplayHDR 400 certified. This is because a maximum brightness of 400 nits will not display HDR as well as a monitor with a brightness of 1,000 nits (brightness is important when it comes to LCD monitors). [However, it does offer a wide color gamut, covering 99% of the sRGB color space. Response time is listed as 4ms gray-to-gray and 1ms when using the MPRT indicator.
Overall, this looks like a good monitor at a very good price.
