Remedy announces that "Alan Wake 2" is well underway for next year.

Remedy released its latest business review, touching on upcoming projects and confirming that the studio's "next major game launch, Alan Wake 2, will take place in 2023 as planned."

The studio has not made a huge amount of money, which is not surprising given that it has not released any new games in the last year.

Most of that money has been directed toward Alan Wake 2 and Control's spin-off, Codename Condor, which CEO Tero Virtala says is "still in the proof of concept phase. and its core design "is being prototyped, and the gameplay already feels fun at this early stage," Virtala wrote. The team is working on a number of key game design elements and giving itself time to finalize the main pillars before moving the project into the next phase of development.

Also in development alongside "Codename Condor" is "Codename Heron," a "larger budget control game" that is in concept stage and will likely be a direct sequel. Early development is apparently going well, and the team is currently expanding, but keeping a low profile.

Vanguard is likely to be a licensed property and is also noticeably not named after a bird. It is a free co-op game that Tencent plans to co-publish, and development will likely take longer than Remedy originally thought. Ultimately, the game is intended to be "an expansive, service-based F2P game with a rich world and carefully selected new elements that will set it apart from other multiplayer games," but it remains in the proof-of-concept stage.

Alan Wake 2 is in full production and will be released on schedule. There is still a lot of work to be done, but the game is coming together in all aspects. User testing continues and the feedback from our user surveys has been encouraging. We are confident that we will be able to launch a great game once we see how each element fits together.

After "Alan Wake 2," Remedy expects to release new games in both 2024 and 2025, all accompanied by either free or paid DLC, or both. It is worth noting that there was no mention in this briefing of the single-player campaign for "Crossfire" that Remedy was working on. We will soon find out if the result will be the wonderful "Alan Wake 2" that everyone has been hoping for.
