The service offers extensions to the chat app, including custom emojis, better streaming quality, and in-app games called Activities.
From now until November 28, a new one-month ($9.99) or annual subscription ($99.9) to Discord Nitro will add a free month of Nitro to your account.
As a long-time Discord Nitro subscriber who primarily uses the service to stream games to friends at high resolution and high frame rates, I was pleasantly surprised to see the recent Nitro revamp add one of my favorite Discord features: Activities. This "activity" is an in-house game, mostly made by Discord, that runs within an active voice channel, and it's pretty awesome. [In addition to a version of Pictionary called SketchHeads, Scrabble, poker, checkers, and chess, there is a mini golf game called Putt Party, and a Snake.io clone called Land-io. It's really nice to fire up these games in my downtime between watching shows or playing games with friends, and I've even been caught playing a hand of poker before the next round of "Overwatch 2" begins.
You need at least one person in the chat who is a Nitro subscriber for the activity to work, but here's a nice plus. I was even a little confused that I was allowed to tip as a host on poker night.
Even if the group gets bored after the third round of putt-putt parties, the BOGO deal is a great time to secure Nitro for a few months and see if it is worth keeping.
