"Hogwarts Legacy" is, by some measures, the most successful game of 2023, as a Warner Bros. executive gloated at the beginning of the year that "Harry Potter RPG is the best-selling game of the year in the entire industry worldwide."
Its commercial success, with over 22 million copies sold has drawn renewed attention to whether the game will eventually offer expansions and significant DLC (beyond a few small items previously exclusive to PlayStation).
Earlier this year, the game's developer, WB Avalanche, announced that something new would indeed be coming this summer, and wizards and witches rushed to the divination tool. There are several features that have been requested by the community and are being touted for inclusion. Given that Warner Bros. is developing a stand-alone Quidditch game, the addition of Quidditch, for example, seems quite unlikely.

"We are thrilled that everyone is looking forward to the free updates to Hogwarts Legacy this summer, and we're excited to be able to share them with you.Muggles, brace yourselves: our original wording of "additional updates and features to the game" was very well intended. This update is a small thank you to our players for their wonderful appreciation of the game.
We could sit here all day if we tried to parse this, but it seems that "a small way to show our appreciation" is definitely prompting some fans to take a cold shower. That's because not only fairly reasonable requests like photo mode, but also things like NG+ mode and major expansions have been mentioned as popular requests. The former would be hard to mesh with the structure of the Hogwarts Legacy (balancing the action while learning new spells at the school), and the latter is a ...... Well, Warner Bros. likes money and will be a big hit. But the bigger question is whether it's best to spend WB Avalanche's time there.
Whatever lies ahead for the Hogwarts Legacy, there will be no shortage of Potter-related games and more in the coming years. Warner Bros. considers the Potterverse a "blue-chip" asset, as the Hogwarts Legacy has undoubtedly proven, with a new HBO series on the horizon as well as Quidditch Champions.
