Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, one of the streaming world's most famous figures, revealed on Twitter that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of skin cancer and encouraged his followers to "get a skin checkup."

"Still in a bit of shock, but wanted to give everyone an update," Blevins tweeted.

"A few weeks ago, Jess went to a dermatologist for her annual skin/mole checkup. She had a mole on the bottom of her foot and had to have it removed just to be safe. I was diagnosed with melanoma, but I'm optimistic that it was caught in its early stages.

"Another dark spot appeared near it, so I biopsied it today and removed a large area around the melanoma in hopes that if I could see a clear edge under the microscope that was not a melanoma, I would know I had found it."

Blevins rose to fame as a streamer in the late 2010s, rising in popularity along with Fortnite, which he began streaming shortly after the Battle Royale spinoff's release, making Fortnite and Epic Games huge players in the business. Since then, he has branched out into numerous ventures: writing a book, becoming a playable character in Raid: Shadow Legends, hosting a New Year's Eve live stream from Times Square, and in 2023 becoming GameSquare's Chief Innovation Officer

However, he has also been a member of the board of directors for the past three years.

However, he has been streaming all along, and while no longer at the top of his game, he maintains a large audience: "I'm grateful for the early detection and hope, but I hope you get a skin checkup with this as a PSA."

He has also been a member of the "New Year's Eve Live Stream" since its inception.

This is good advice: according to the American Cancer Society, melanoma is a relatively rare but dangerous form of skin cancer because it is aggressive. The good news is that the five-year survival rate with early diagnosis is over 99%.
