Multiversus fans are convinced that the game has slowed down and absolutely hate it!

MultiVersus is now entering the montage era, "rebuilt from the ground up" in Unreal Engine 5, and will appear in May with his glasses off and his hair down. Are people excited about that?" maybe not, given the new clips that fans are convinced have changed the way the game looks and plays to the point of concern.

One video that attempts to show off MultiVersus' shiny new netcode is overshadowed by claims of slower movement and larger character models. One Twitter user replied to the video, "Did you guys record this at low fps or something? Why is it so slow?" He asked. Another user added, "I hope this is not real gameplay, looks like slow motion."

The quoted retweet was even more brutal, completely tearing the video to shreds with GIFs and invective. One user wrote, "They spent a year trying to make an accurate fucking game, but it looks like it's in slow motion. Another user said, "One of the biggest problems with 'MultiVersus' was how floaty and unsatisfying the overall game feel was. Since we noted in our first "MultiVersus" review how floaty the overall feeling was, it is concerning that the gravity seems to have decreased even more in the absence of the game.

It is not just the game speed that has some fans concerned. Models seem noticeably larger than in the beta version and appear overcrowded on screen; one user on Reddit wrote, "I'm concerned about the larger models. 'Depending on how the camera works, it's going to get cramped pretty quickly when everyone is together and it's going to be hard to keep track of where everyone is and what they're doing. Maybe it's easier to do when you're actually playing, but we'll have to see."

Some are a bit more positive about the possibility of a larger model." I don't mind. It's a little hard to appreciate cool animation when characters like Tom and Jerry take up less than 2% of the screen. Rick and Morty's giant stage is especially bad," wrote one Reddit user.

There has been no word yet from Player First Games or Warner Bros. about their reaction to the video, either on Twitter or on the MultiVersus Discord server. We have emailed Warner Bros. for comment and will report back if we hear anything.

It is definitely worth noting the big "IN DEVELOPMENT - FOOTAGE NOT FINAL" at the bottom of the video that everyone is freaking out about. The game is still three to seven weeks away from re-release. That's plenty of time for final tweaks. It is also possible that they have slowed things down a bit to better show how the netcode will be played, rather than having the characters zoom all over the screen. Nevertheless, it is all hypothetical for now, and things will become clearer when "MultiVersus" actually arrives on the scene.
