The Mists of Pandaria Remix went on sale last weekend, kicking World of Warcraft players out and hanging out with some cold pandas. Unlike Chromie Time, where players can choose an extension to level up, Remix requires you to roll a new timewalking character that won't be able to leave Pandaria until the event ends a few months later. During this stay, you get a new to earn transmogs, toys and mounts, including some rewards that are very hard to unlock
While we wait for the war, it's a fun diversion, but it can also produce a fair share of drama and break up just as with the original expansion. It has been proven that. At the heart of this is the accelerated leveling, which is highly advertised, the expectation that we all have divine power, and a lot of frogs.
One of the unique mechanisms introduced in Remix 1 is the cloak of infinite possibilities. This cloak, given to players at the start, provides XP and stat buff that grows as you earn threads — from quests to raids, every launch before, PTR players were blasting everything, becoming gods and handing their power to alt. In the live version, things are shrinking a bit more.
The cloak doesn't feel as powerful as it used to be, but it doesn't mean that most of the benefits you give are not the whole account, and that your alt can increase XP by more than 300% or stat buff laughably strong if you do, for example, perform a regular raid. Even alt XP boost is capped at 100%, and most of the other statistics do not increase at all. Also, it doesn't make much sense to create an alt until you achieve an achievement after collecting thousands of threads. This probably explains why they took advantage of the exploits over the weekend when they saw so many players farming frogs. So many. Frog
Timeless Island Net Farmer Frog Currency like bronze, timeless coins and charm that can be turned into even more bronze. All useful things. Also, dropping the Epic thread will increase the cloak stats by 12. So yes, these frogs require farming. And the players gladly accepted the chore to speed up their profits. Looking for a ready-made group on the weekend, it was nothing more than a frog farmer.
It's a group activity, because, as you see, the goal is to activate hyperspooning. Hyper-spawning is when the game determines that the area is full of players and spawn increases. So, a group of 5 people can pull all the frogs into a small area, instantly kill them, fool the wow and think that the army is working.
Bronze is invaluable because it is necessary to upgrade gears and unlock cosmetics. And between the bronze and thread gains, players were finally achieving the god-like power they were expecting from the remix. This damage chart shows how frog farmers say it all in comparison to everyone else in the raid.
The good times ended tragically on Sunday. Blizzard sneaked a stealth fix and reduced the frog's reward, no longer doll out the charm. They can still be cultured for bronze or jewelry, but it is definitely no longer advantageous. This just about let everyone down. The frog farmer can no longer get a kick, but players who have never taken advantage of it have a reasonable way to catch up with the early birds, and the mantra of "exploit early and often" is very relevant here.
There is an argument that Blizzard only treated the symptoms. Obviously, when there is an exploit, people are trying to use it, but this time the player's willingness to take advantage of the frog farm can be attributed in part to their frustration. I personally have a great time with Remix, but Blizzard has levelled up rapidly and absolutely assembled the event as a way to be stupidly overwhelmed. And that's what we got with PTR. So naturally, people are going to feel a little cheated when their profits decrease.
Players claim that it's actually faster to level up regular WoW, but it's not entirely wrong, but if you've got a big caveat and fully optimized the leveling route, you can speed up the game and get to the latest extension, Dragonflight, in a matter of hours. But it's a very specific way to play. If you play through normal extensions, not just trying to optimize everything, the remix definitely feels faster.
It's also worth noting that things are quite at pace with alt, even with the first 100% XP cap. After running through the remix to my monk, I'm now working on warlocks, and I frequently level up twice when passing quests. It is undeniably active. Also, the XP buff will only be more powerful because alt can earn achievements and threads many times.
And this is still an early day for remixes. There is still time to make tweaks and give the player a leg. Indeed, it has already happened. Before the correction, the LFR raid was quite pointless compared to the usual raid. After modification, the LFR increases the experience by 7% per wing, making it a more viable way to empower your cloak. Meanwhile, the bronze cash you can earn from Achievements and Daily Quests now gives you 25% more bronze. So it's not all bad news. And that's certainly good news for frogs who get to live their lives without being permanently murdered by force-hungry adventurers.
