Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings Trilogy is based on J.R.R.It was both a blessing and a curse in Tolkien's novel. Blessed in that they undoubtedly remain the biggest ever adaptation of the fantasy world to the film, faithfully re-beat and character of the book with yet-to-be-surpassed grandeur and curses were their success and instantly canonized Jackson's vision as the starting point for a new extended universe spun out of the book.

This is not particularly new — the British satirical magazine Private Eye jokes that it calls Silmarillion, a posthumously published collection of Tolkien's Middle-Earth stories, "Sellamillion." The Lord of the Rings has always been a big company. But with franchises like Marvel, Star Wars and Harry Potter showcasing the extraordinary amount they can squeeze out of the expanded universe and all but a book recently acquired by a middle-earth company (a subsidiary of the Embracer) in 2022, we are entering a new era of Hobbit saturation.

If I look glum about this, that's the only reason, with the best will in the world, Jackson's trilogy is not approaching that level so nothing—Jack Amazon's Rings of Power was just a prestige TV in the middle of the road. Well, Warner Bros. has decided that what this shows is that people want more Gollum, so it's up to you. This is the first time I've seen this. The company has announced a new clutch of live-action films based primarily on rings, first focusing on fish-devouring rings Fancy (thanks to the variety). Warner Bros. during earnings call. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens acted as producers of the film and "will be involved at every stage."

The film's working title is Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and it is directed by and starring Andy Serkis as Gollum. The screenplay for the film will be by Walsh, Boyence, Phoebe Gittins and Artie Papageggiorgiu, who will obviously "explore a story that hasn't been told yet."

A statement from Jackson, Walsh and Boyens reads: "As a lifetime fan of the vast myth of Professor Antolkin, it is our good friend and collaborator who has an honor and unfinished business with its stinky Gollum, we welcome Mike de Luca, Pam Abdi and the entire Warner Bros. team." We are proud to work with you. On another epic adventure!"

Well, this is amazing to see you continue your relationship with Lord of the Rings for about gross3 billion dollars, but with returns only declining since the trilogy, I somehow doubt that the Gollum Chase movie won't succumb to that trend.

This is one of several Lord of the Rings projects coming from Warner Bros., which is being developed by a new Line Cinema label. The first achievement of this is the animated film "Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohilim" directed by Kenji Kamiyama, which is scheduled for March. Lord of the Rings: The hunt for Gollum is scheduled for sometime in 2026.
