Robot Roguelike Cogmind outlines three free extensions for its ultra-customizable Scrapbot

Modular Robot Roguelike Cogmind found that after a decade of development there is still a lot to come for a game about small robots that will rise to the top of the giant robot society from large Scrapheap for its next year or so of updates, with three big extensions coming along with the final, proper 1.0 release. It was a great experience.

The first expansion, Scraptown, brings a new faction and optional alliance with new robot classes and game-changing new items- as well as the 10th end Second, Unchained, is funded by Patreon supporters and is a player kit for those who cause too much trouble. Character Hunt, Cross-Area Custom Third, apparently adds a guild of Merchants that brings yet another faction to align itself rather than what you expect given the name somewhere in its 6 or more patches, the developers say there will be a 1.0 release.

First released in 2015 and released on Steam in 2017, Cogmind is one of the traditional roguelike of longevity, with a very dedicated and loving fanbase behind it.1 In it, you are a self-aware robot discarded inside a vast sf mega-structure complex that is fully executed by a huge artificial intelligence. In short, the dungeon is a huge self-expanding body that sees you as an infectious agent within yourself. To move forward, you need to shoot off and clean new parts from the existing inhabitants of the complex.

Back then PC gamers checked in, said it was good for traditional roguelike RPG fans, and checked out. It's been a while, and I think, and a lot of increased profiles for this kind of niche roguelike is key — Cogmind, after all, is going to be the only early access before it has seen the success that has propelled it into nearly a decade of public development. I say Early Access, but it's been a very complete game for years, since 2018 or so - the developers keep adding new to it.

If that kind of game with that level of depth appeals to you, check out Cogmind on Steam forSteam25.
