I don't know who out there was excited for a borderline movie, but boy Howdy, this is a rough one. After the so-so first trailer on May 2, the new preview clip at IGN's summer showcase surprised me with a kind of charisma void that is actually impressive in its own way.
I'm pretty neutral throughout the border zone. I played a lot of Borderlands 2 back in the day, like a lot of people— you know, back when the movie tie-up made more sense. But with colorful and deformed art, a wealth of lore and established voice actors for different characters, animated Arcane and cyberpunk Edgner will be able to play with Tilda Swinton, Jamie Lee Curtis and Jack Black (a special guest starring as Claptrap). It would have been cheaper than paying an actor like that. This is how you corrupt yourself.
The new excerpt begins with Jack Blacktrap crapping bullets in an extended bit about indigestion while other characters are watching. This unfortunately catches the attention of a bunch of guys who look on the road of rage in gas masks, and the scene devolves into one of the action sequences without substance and craft that makes you feel nothing, all set in a dim warehouse that looks like it could be in Hoboken.
On the other hand, the first trailer from a few months ago is classic Rock, quips, and bad cosplay, something like "Guardians of the Galaxy with serial numbers" that could have been timely at least 10 years ago. What's going on here feels like an anti-Dungeons & Dragons movie, but an obnoxious surprise to the same degree of honor among thieves was a pleasant one Maybe it's a collective karma punishment for cash - Adam Sandler was "deliberately bad" to get snubbed at the Oscars for uncut gems. Making a movie
You will be able to make your own final judgment on the border film when it is released on 8/9.
