In what may or may not be the case for incredibly accidental (and unfortunate) timing, the addition of the piece to the Legendary Civilization strategy game series was leaked via the 2K Games website.
The leak was quickly removed, but not before the banner image was commemorated by Reddit and Resetera's Quick fingers. The banner also included a link to the new trailer and wish list page, but neither was live while the banner was up.
The Summer Game Fest showcase is due to kick off today at 2pm PT/5pm ET, with 2K "one of the biggest and most loved franchises of 2K and the next iteration
We thought BioShock4 might finally be in the limelight (although it was probably "expected"). Of course, now we are all moving our chips to Civilization 7, Borderlands4 is also a big statement following the recent acquisition of Take-Two Gearbox.
Firaxis has actually announced that it is working on "the next iteration of the Legendary Civilization franchise" in 2023, following the departure of Jake Solomon, Marvel Midnight Suns creative Director and longtime Civilization vet.2 But anything beyond the fact of its existence was not shared at the time, and since then nothing has actually been said about it. Civ6, meanwhile, continues to walk like an absolute juggernaut: despite being 8 years old now (yes, its Strategy Juggernaut was released all along in 2016), it's one of the most played games on Steam.
