Destiny2: The final form dropped to 36% on Steam as people flooded reviews with negative comments after a lot of experienced server issues yesterday during the Dlc launch.
At worst, most players were unhappy with server issues and experience delays. They argue that bungie should have been more prepared for the DLC drop: "You can stop giving big companies a break when they fail to run" It's not a small indie company that gives you the benefit of doubt. It's a large company with a lot of experience raking in crazy money that should be held to explain that they can't start extending smoothly."
Server problems during the launch of online games are not unheard of. Some people ask why companies overestimate the number of players they acquire and can't prepare their servers accordingly, but it's important to realize that if studios spin up more servers than they need, they'll be wasting resources if the game falls below expectations. However, this does not mean that leaving a negative review is wrong, because it will give future players a better idea of what the game is currently like.
But we are already starting to see change. At the time of writing this, reviews are likely to continue to increase as they jump into mixed ratings, with fewer server issues and more players actually experiencing the final form for themselves.
Some players have pointed out all the positives in the latest DLC: "Despite the horrible server issues at launch, this is legally a better marvel than Lightfall, which has been backed up by several others who agree that the final shape is so far a 'top tier', and that "the launch is a good thing." Even though "it was really bad," it shouldn't be a problem looming DLC for its lifetime."
Destiny has already apologized for all the issues on Twitter and assured fans that it is working to try to find a solution: "If connectivity issues are preventing us from playing or enjoying our final form today, we would like to apologize. We are working hard to try to solve each of these problems as soon as possible, and many of the connection problems from this morning have already been fixed"
