Dr.Disrespect denies former Twitch employee's claim that he was banned for DMing with a minor: "I did nothing wrong, everything has been investigated and resolved.

Streamer Guy Beahm, better known as Dr. Disrespect, said he has "done nothing wrong" and has no intention of commenting further on allegations by a former Twitch employee claiming that Beahm's lifetime ban from Twitch was the result of sexual DMs with a minor. He stated that he had "done nothing wrong" and had no intention of commenting further.

Beahm was one of Twitch's biggest streamers when he was suspended from Twitch in June 2020, stating only that Twitch would take "appropriate action" when it "has evidence that a streamer has violated its community guidelines or terms of service." He stated that even Beahm claimed at the time that he did not know why he had been banned.

He was eventually informed of the reason and admitted it a year later when he announced he would take legal action against Twitch. The case was settled in 2022, with neither party admitting wrongdoing and no reason for the ban being given.

And it stayed that way until this past weekend, when former Twitch employee Cody Conners tweeted, "He was banned because he was caught sexting with a minor on a then-existing product called Twitch whispers. He was going to meet her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read it in plain text. Case closed.

Conners did not specifically name Beahm, but it was widely understood that he was referring to Beahm. This speculation quickly gained steam when streamer Jake Lucky tweeted about it, prompting a reply from Beahm. 'Jake, seriously,' Beahm tweeted." I know it's a hot topic, but this has been resolved, no wrongdoing was admitted, and the contract was paid in full."[9

This comment led to even more intense speculation, with many onlookers pointing out that "no wrongdoing was admitted" was not a direct denial of the claim. The next day, Beahm made a somewhat more specific statement.

"Listen, I am obviously bound by legal obligations due to my settlement with Twitch, but this is the damn internet and I need to say what I can say," he tweeted." I have done nothing wrong and this whole matter has been investigated and resolved.

A day later, The Verge reported that another former Twitch employee, who was a member of the company's Trust and Safety team at the time of the incident, corroborated Connors' tweet, stating that Beahm used Twitch's Whispers messaging system at TwitchCon to reportedly told the site that he attempted to arrange a meeting with a minor.

In a livestream today, Beahm indicated that he would not comment further.

"For those of you asking me to expand on this weekend, I'm not going to," he said. 'I've already said what I need to say. I don't care about this man. That's it."

Conners had previously mentioned that he knew why Beahm was banned from Twitch in 2023: in a subsequent tweet, Lackey used the promise that Conners might share that information to promote a series of concerts in 2023 He pointed out that Connors apologized for these tweets, but also noted that he had received no threat of legal action for his claims, and implied that screenshots proving his claims were now in circulation.

The allegations also led others to say they had heard similar explanations for Beahm's lifetime ban from Twitch. For example, former Washington Post journalist Nathan Grayson said, "This is basically not the first time I've heard this explanation." It's not the second or third time." He tweeted. All of his sources, he noted, were second-hand accounts and "were not in the room when it happened."

DramaAlert's Twitter feed also noted that TinyChat co-founder Dan Saltman made a similar claim two months before Conners' tweet in an interview with streamer Destiny on Kick.

The circumstances surrounding Dr Disrespect's indefinite ban remain unclear, as there has been no direct testimony about the alleged incident, Beahm has not admitted to any wrongdoing, and Twitch has not acknowledged the situation, but the allegations have resulted in the game studio Beahm co-founded and Midnight Society, has severed ties with the streamer, saying he may be taking an extended "vacation" from streaming.
