Thankfully, Activision will begin preloading the game for those who pre-ordered it soon. But the trouble is, PC players will have to wait five days longer than PC players will have to wait five days longer than PC players will have to wait five days longer than PC players will have to wait five days longer than PC players.
Why do PC players have to wait an extra five days? Call of Duty has historically been a console-specific series, so it is not that surprising that consoles are the first platform ready to pull the trigger. The delay may have something to do with support studio Beenox, which is working on the PC port of Cold War (and is also responsible for the PC port of Modern Warfare in 2019).
In any case, three days in advance should be plenty of time to start downloading and get off to the races when "Cold War" finally drops. In case you were wondering, Activision has reviewed the storage requirements for the PC version of "Cold War," so download times may be shorter than expected.
