Apex Legends' top-ranked 419 player was banned for using glitches to beat up a bronze player.

Apex Legends rank matches are divided into six tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Apex Predator, each (except Apex Predator) subdivided into four divisions. Ranks are determined by rank points earned from gameplay in ranked matches: the better you are, the higher your ranking and the more competition you will face.

This is all pretty basic, but worth a quick recap to highlight the difference between the Bronze tier, which is the basic entry level, and the Diamond tier, which requires 7,200 RP to enter. 100 RP + kills and assists earned in a single ranked match bonuses due to (I'm told the maximum is 225 RP per match) and considerably less than that if you finish below Apex Champion, so the number of players reaching the Diamond tier is relatively small: in Season 6, for example, of the players who ranked in, only 2 percent were able to reach the rank of Diamond or higher.

That is why it is noteworthy that 419 players with a rank of Diamond or higher were caught abusing the ability to play in the Bronze lobby, regardless of rank. In fact, this seems to be a longstanding problem: For example, a July 2019 entry on the EA support site complained that "highly ranked players of any rank (e.g. Platinum) can glitch into the lobby of a lower ranked game (e.g. Bronze), farm some easy RP, and move up in rank"

YouT states.

According to the following video by YouTuber TaylorHobbs, the exploit requires a bit of timing, but not much else. (This may not be a specific glitch exploit that is banned, but it shows that the process is relatively simple.)

As you might imagine, Bronze Tier players are not super enthusiastic about top-ranked heavy hitters trolling their games, so the reaction to Ford's tweets has been generally positive.

And in some cases, very positive.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: scammers actually prosper well, but sometimes they get busted and suffer for it. I have contacted the EA for more information on this crackdown and will update if I hear back.
