Despite reaffirming a few weeks ago that it has no plans to "drip" new content via seasonal updates or DLC into Star Wars: Squadrons, Electronic Arts has announced a Disney+ exclusive series based on The Mandalorian, an unlock Surprise Content Update," which will add new items that can be.
The update adds a total of eight new items: one each for the Imperial and New Republic factions, holograms, decals, dashboard flares, and hanging flares. Though they are simpler, more bouncy plastic figurine figures than the "mystery creature" riding shotgun with Boba Fett on TV. Only in the New Republic, unfortunately, the Imperial pilots have to make do with "IG Series Assassin Droids."
It's easy to make fun of EA for releasing new content less than three weeks after they said they wouldn't (which is why I did), but to be fair, this is a small update mainly to promote Disney's Star Wars show, and more importantly More importantly, it's completely free: if you're not interested, you don't have to unlock any new content, and instead just have an Ewok (whose name I learned today is Tagtar) bouncing around on your armrest. Frankly, if EA had just thrown them into the game without saying anything, it probably would have taken most players days to notice.
Mandalorian supply drops will appear in Star Wars: Squadrons on October 28. And while I honestly don't understand why Baby Yoda is not offered to the Imperial faction, he is clearly a disciple of the dark side.
