He has quite a legacy, so it is no surprise that he has a book: the Memoirs of Sid Meier, to be published this September by WW Norton. According to the book's description, the book is neither a straight biography nor anything else. Meyer reflects on his career, offering "fascinating insights into the history of the industry, the psychology of gamers, and the creative process, including rules for good game design."
It is surprisingly rare for a veteran game developer to look back in a book, and will be of interest to more than just strategy enthusiasts. The book will be published on September 8 and can be pre-ordered on the book's official website.
If you're excited about the book, I particularly like Meyer's interview, which we published in 2013. We believe that Civ has reached an appropriate level of grandeur and magnificence, and that anything beyond that would be overkill in terms of complexity and length of play time."
