The publisher of the classic "Civilization" and "XCOM" will release three new games.

The publisher MicroProse may ring a bell with fans of classic strategies and simulations. The studio was responsible for publishing games such as "Civilization" and "Civilization 2" in the early 90s, as well as the original "XCOM" and "UFO: Enemy Unknown". The studio closed its doors many years ago, but has now returned and announced that three new war-themed games will be distributed directly to Steam.

The first is Sea Power, a naval battle strategy game in which you take control of NATO and Warsaw Pact forces in a modern naval battle. According to the game's Steam page, Sea Power is set in the Cold War era of the 60s and 70s, includes both historical and fictional scenarios, has scalable realism, and features real-time combat.

The second game, Second Front, is a turn-based World War II tactical game that brings the action back to land; Second Front eschews realism for more 3D toy soldier-style visuals. There are multiple campaigns involving German, American, and Russian units, and the game takes place over a 60-turn combat cycle. The war sim also has an editor that allows players to create their own scenarios and campaigns.

The third of the trio is Task Force Admiral, another Word War 2 simulator, but from the perspective of an American aircraft carrier. You play as a commander destroying enemy naval units in a real-time action campaign; the Steam page boasts that Task Force Admiral has over 90 different ships and 40 different aircraft, true to reality.

MicroProse has not yet revealed release dates for these three titles, but they have ambitious plans and will announce others soon. If you like tactical strategy games, check out our Beastie list of the best strategy games on PC.
