Netflix's "The Witcher" was better than expected, with an expanded cast and the addition of Vesemir, Geralt's gray-haired mentor, enough to open the door to a bigger and better "Witcher" season 2. Unfortunately, in March, before the show began airing in earnest, the COVID-19 pandemic naturally put the brakes on production of all Netflix shows.
Since then, the status of the show has remained in limbo, but over the weekend showrunner Lauren Hisrich gave a glimpse of what fans have to look forward to when the next season arrives.
For those who haven't seen the series, Cahill is a knight of the Nilfgaard Empire, pursuing Princess Siri in the chaos of the Sintra invasion. They are, at least nominally, the bad guys, and that is all that needs to be said at this point.
Seriously.
Netflix's "The Witcher" series is based on the novels, not the games (though there will naturally be some crossover), and in the novels, Kähir Maul Diffrin Aep Seelach (formally known as Kähir Maul Diffrin Aep Seelach) is a remarkable man. As in the series, he was sent to capture Siri and bring him back to Nilfgaard, but everything went very wrong and he met an untimely end after an extended stay in the dungeons, a fight for justice, and ultimately a brief and awkward collaboration with Geralt.
Fringilla Vigo, a member of the sorcerer's lodge, does not seem to be as developed a character in the novel (although, ironically, she did appear in The Witcher 3, unlike Cahill), but she seems to play a much more central role in the Netflix series.
Now, back to spoiler safety.
Unfortunately, there is still no new information on when "The Witcher" Season 2 will resume production and air. When the new season was announced, it was slated for around 2021, but the world has changed a lot in recent years: series star Henry Cavill seems to be honing his culinary skills after painting all his Warhammer miniatures.
