Good news for those who've never fought a guerrilla war to free Earth from an alien tyrant, 2K is offering a free demo version of XCOM 2 on Steam (and Xbox One if you want to sit on the couch and enjoy the tactics).
Good timing, as XCOM: Chimera Squad is out today. It's a direct sequel to XCOM 2, with human and alien soldiers working together to keep the peace and melt down those who aren't fans of this interspecies alliance. It's standalone, so you don't have to have played XCOM 2, but it remains one of the best strategy games on the PC.
XCOM 2 is available for free now and can be played until April 30 at 9:59 AM Pacific Standard Time. It's not a short game, but I have faith in you. It's 75% off right now, so you can get it for less.
Most of the DLC is also on sale, including the excellent "Battle of the Chosen" expansion. This expansion content is integrated into the main game and allows you to take on alien nemeses and form alliances with three factions, each with their own unique skills; it's a great way to play XCOM 2, and I highly recommend picking it up if you enjoy sampling the base game.
If you're looking for even more free games, here are all the free games you can get right now.
