Frankly, I'm a little relieved that Doom Eternal has done away with the classic Doom starter pistol; the one that came out in 2016 was quite useful, but with an endless supply of ammo, it felt right to go straight to the shotgun, plus a chainsaw and ammo. With an abundance of imps to spread around, there is no need for endless ammunition.

But for those who still missed it, it turns out that the weapon actually exists in Doom Eternal's code; New Blood founder Dave Oshry posted a video of it on Twitter:

Unfortunately, Doom Eternal does not have immediate access to the command console like the old id Software games, but there is a way to access it using the Cheat Engine tables. I have not used it myself, but in the Twitter video above, it was a way to access the pistol.
