Fallout 76 Wastelanders Update Postponed

Last week, "Fallout 76" players began stockpiling toilet paper, an amusing imitation of the inexplicable real-world reaction to the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak. Today, however, the effects of the outbreak were felt in a less humorous way, as Bethesda announced that the delivery of the "Fallout 76 Wastelanders" update would be delayed for a week.

Bethesda said on Twitter that, like many other studios, its employees are now working from home to prevent the spread of the virus. The company's live games are operating as usual, but the change has limited its ability to conduct proper final testing, resulting in a delay from April 7 to April 14.

The Wastelanders update is a big one. It adds human NPCs and quests to the game, revamps the original main quest, adds new factions and locations, adds unique companions with romance options, incorporates a Fallout 3-style dialogue system, and much more. Overall, the update brings the multiplayer-focused "Fallout 76" closer to the traditional single-player "Fallout" game, something many fans have been waiting for. Originally slated for release in late 2019, the game was pushed back to 2020 in October of that year.

"We've done everything we can to minimize delays and can't wait for everyone to play. Thank you to all the players on the private test server for your cooperation." We know this is a stressful time and we can't thank you enough for all the support you have given to each other and to us."
