One of the most pleasant surprises of 2019 was the huge success of The Witcher on Netflix. It went from a rather dubious concept (never forget the "ball sack armor") to a legitimately excellent series that was an unexpected success in the mainstream. "The Hollywood Reporter" has given Sony and Naughty Dog high marks for HBO series based on the PlayStation survival horror game "The Last of Us" in an attempt to replicate or surpass its success.
The series will depict the events of the first game (the sequel will be released in May). It is being adapted by Craig Mazin, creator of the "Chernobyl" series, which alone raises expectations, but unlike "The Witcher," which was largely (and characteristically) ignored by the original author, Anjay Sapkowski, "The Last of Us" writer and creative director Neil Druckman will collaborate with Mazin as writer and executive producer.
"Neil Drachman is arguably the best storyteller working in the medium of video games, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus. To have the opportunity to adapt this breathtaking work of art into a film has been a dream of mine for many years, and I am so honored to be partnering with Neil to make it happen."
Drachman said in a statement that he was "overwhelmed by [Mazin's] approach to the story and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us." [In Chernobyl, Craig and HBO have created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. There is no better partner to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show."
While "The Last of Us" is well known as a high-profile PlayStation exclusive, word on the street is that "The Last of Us 2" may be in the works. While word on the street is notoriously unreliable and fickle, there is some evidence to support this rumor: job postings reminiscent of the PC, and a general growing openness to Sony's PC release. And let's not forget "Heavy Rain," "Beyond: Two Souls," and "Detroit: And let's not forget that "Heavy Rain," "Beyond: Two Souls," and "Detroit: Become Human" are all in the same They are all in the same position, and they were all released on our platform last year.
No release date or role has been revealed yet. That means there is still time to politely discuss and debate who should be in this game.
