Here is a long gameplay video of Obsidian's small survival game "Grounded".

Obsidian was at PAX East promoting their upcoming survival game "Grounded". The demo was part of a panel hosted by Larry Hyrb, and in addition to a great chunk of footage, there was also some new information.

The video is below, but the most important fact is this: the game will support cross-play with consoles at launch. There are no birds. There are third-person and first-person perspectives. When harvesting grass stalks for building, you can throw an armful of grass back to your base (assuming you are close enough). This is part of Obsidian's approach to objects in general.

The game takes a Metroidvania approach to the world, whereby acquiring certain abilities or tools will give you access to parts of the map that would otherwise be inaccessible. In other words, acquiring certain abilities and tools will give you access to parts of the map that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Oh, and for those who don't like spiders, there is a spider-phobia mode.

A release date for Grounded has not yet been set, but it should be available around the middle of this year. Wes played the game last year and you can read his thoughts on it here. If you can't be bothered to watch the stream archive below, someone has pieced together all the footage.
