The English-language version of "Three Kingdoms XIV," the 14th installment in Koei's long-running strategy series, is now available on Steam. The series is known for its extensive depiction of the periods of Chinese history covered by the classic novels, which were covered last year by Total War: Three Kingdoms. The game is a sprawling military strategy title that focuses on maneuvering a large army over a massive hex map of China. A PC version of the game was released earlier this year, but only in other languages; the English and Western versions were officially released on February 28. The game employs a posed real-time system that has divided fans of the game in two, with orders planned by the player but executed by the AI.
The RTK Strategy series has been controversial even among its fan base, with 14 iterations resulting in many different mechanisms and game styles that have come and gone over the years. Regardless of one's opinion of the series, early reviews and user feedback indicate that the PC version has technical problems and is locked at 30 FPS.
Sangokushi 14 is available on the official website and Steam for $60 or 10% off for $54 until March 9.
