In recent months, rumors have abounded that famed Star Wars actor Mark Hamill is in talks to play Vesemir in The Witcher Season 2. Hamill himself expressed interest in the role in 2018 (although he also admitted that he "has no idea what this is about or what it's about"), and at least one fan site recently reported that the role was in the works, although it has yet to be officially confirmed.

Now we have confirmation, but it's not Hamill: it's Danish actor Kim Bodnia. He played a relatively important role in "Killing Eve," for which he was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor. He has also won several awards in the Danish film industry in a career that began in 1989.

Vesemir is an aging Witcher, one of the sole survivors of the destruction of Kea Morhen, and acts as Gerard's mentor and father figure. He is hard-nosed and cynical, but fond of Geralt's gang: for example, in the Killing Monsters trailer, when Geralt decides to intervene in the lynching of a woman, Vesemir does not try to stop him, but only tells him to "get on with it." He's a good father. The second season of [The Witcher] is not expected to be released until 2021, so it will be some time before we see Bodnia in action. Other new cast members include Yasen Atul as Cohen, Agnes Bjorn as Verena, Paul Brion as Lambert, Christopher Hivju as Nivellen, Tüe Elsted Rasmussen as Eskel, and Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Mecia Simson as Francesca.
