The cult favorite survival RPG "Outward" will receive new DLC this spring focusing on the Soroboreans, a reclusive faction of merchants, scholars, and wizards. This DLC will add character choices, enchantments, and post-game adventures of sorts. The survival aspect of the game will also be more hardcore, as the new "corruption" system will affect certain areas: "Depending on the degree of corruption, different things will be affected," according to the press release. The world has become more terrifying. Because 'Outside' was already scary enough.
Soroborian is the most prominent merchant network and academic institution in the Outward world. The addition of magical enchantments to weapons and trinkets in this DLC is just perfect. It will also add new skills based on the corruption mechanic and perhaps some new magical powers; the last major update to Outward after its release was last October. That's all we know about the DLC so far.
Our own Christopher Livingston liked "Outward" upon release quite a bit and gave it an 89. He further wrote this about the game in December:" Outward's hardships add great stakes to even the smallest of journeys". The most engaging aspect of the game is the cooperative play, which really emphasizes teamwork and camaraderie.
Outward is developed by Nine Dots Studio and published by Deep Silver. It is available on Steam and GOG as well as on the official website.
