It's been several years since the launch of "Battlefield 5," but the war continues: today Electronic Arts announced that "Into the Jungle," the sixth chapter of the "Tides of War" expansion, will be released tomorrow.
The release of this new chapter comes roughly three months after the release of "War in the Pacific," which, as Fraser noted at the time, featured a "doozy" trailer. While "Into the Jungle" does not yet have a competing cinematic of its own, it will continue to follow the war in the Pacific theater, where U.S. and Japanese forces dominate the action.
However, whereas Chapter 5 was based on a swift and furious amphibious assault, images shared on Twitter and a now-static YouTube channel (also embedded below) suggesting that it will be a "new chapter. (Also, the chapter is literally called "Into the Jungle.")
Whatever the details, "Battlefield 5" is slowly but surely coming to an end. The free "Tides of War" update, which adds new maps, modes, weapons, and other features, also very loosely follows the historical course of the actual war. It may not be imminent, though: EA recently stated that the next "Battlefield" game will not be released until mid-2021 at the earliest, and that for now, the "Battlefield 5" experience "still has a chance because it is built as a live service base from the beginning"
